Why “Death and Dessert”

Death is often viewed as a daunting subject, one filled with mystery, fear, and anxiety. Yet, as Christians, we find hope in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. This workshop seeks to approach these sensitive topics with grace, warmth, and a touch of humor. By pairing discussions on death with dessert, we hope to create an atmosphere of comfort and community—reminding us that life, even in its most challenging moments, can still be sweet.

Over the course of four sessions, we will cover crucial topics that will provide you with valuable insights and tools to navigate end-of-life planning:

What to Expect:

Over the course of four sessions, we will explore a range of important topics, including:

  • Starting Conversations

Practical tools for entering conversations around end-of-life care, clarifying what is most important to you, and dying well.

  • Palliative and Hospice Care

Understanding the options available for compassionate care that prioritizes comfort and quality of life.

  • The Role of the Funeral Home

Insights into how funeral homes can support families before and during difficult times and the services they provide. Pastor Sean will also provide materials and guidance for pre-planning a meaningful farewell service that celebrates the life of a loved one.

  • Estate Planning and Legacy Giving

Discussing the importance of preparing for the future and how to leave a lasting legacy that reflects your values.

Each session will feature professional guest speakers who are knowledgeable in their fields and can provide valuable insights and practical advice. Sessions will include resources and materials at no cost.

Who Should Attend?

We encourage participation from adults in all seasons of life —this conversation is relevant to everyone, whether you are planning for yourself, a parent or another loved one.

Why Attend?

Engaging in discussions about death and end-of-life planning can bring peace of mind and clarity. It allows us to reflect on our values, share our wishes with loved ones, and ensure that our desires are honored. By discussing these topics openly, we also strengthen our relationships with loved ones and our community as we support one another in the journey of life and faith.

Join Us for Dessert!

In the spirit of fellowship, each session will include dessert, allowing for further connection and conversation in a relaxed environment. We believe that sharing sweet treats and open hearts can foster deeper understanding and community bonds.

A Final Thought:

As we navigate these sensitive topics together, let us remember the hope we share in Christ. The promise of eternal life is a cornerstone of our faith, and by discussing death openly, we can find comfort and strength in that promise.

We look forward to seeing you!
