Finding Your Way in the Bible

Finding Your Way in the Bible

5-Week Study - Begining Tuesday, September 24, 2024

The bible is complicated. We are going to explore some of the most common questions about the bible: Where did it come from? Who wrote it? Why are there so many translations? Why is it so complicated? Why do people interpret what the bible says differently?

If you have these questions - you are not alone! This group study is for you. Come and join us.

NEWS

Brause Hall

Brause Hall

We are so grateful for the roof renovation to Brause Hall! Brause Hall is not just a Joy space, but a community space. As you know, our congregation uses this space for potlucks, annual meetings, and Sunday School. The Kid's Closet provides free clothing to children in our community who have clothing needs in Brause Hall.  Community children's choirs, support groups, and Boy Scouts all depend on our space each week. The added center beam will reinforce the roof trusses to better accomodate heavy snow loads this winter! Thank you to all who are working on this tomorrow!

Youth Retreat for Middle/High School

Youth Retreat for Middle/High School

More information to come! Save the date!

This is an overnight staying at the Sea Life Center in Seward. Youth from congregations across our synod will gather for this retreat weekend! MS and HS students have Friday, October 18th off.  Registration is forthcoming.

Garden Do-over and Opportunity

Garden Do-over and Opportunity

Our perennial garden outside Joy's back door had become unmanageable over time, to the point that we could no longer dig up weeds and other invasive weeds. A professional landscaper and one of Joy's Eagle Scout dads, Scott Janisch, put the garden to rights, and we look forward to continuing his efforts this fall and next spring.

And here's the opportunity - we no longer need the Allen blocks that had defined the garden's front edge. They're stacked along the chainlink fence at the front of the garden, along with some hexagonal paving stones, and they're available to anyone who can transport them and put them to good use. Thanks for helping us recycle our landscape materials!
When You Travel...

When You Travel...

…please consider bringing back a cross to mark your visit - we love seeing where your journeys take you! Joy’s collection of 142 crosses now spans three walls, with the latest gifts from Wayne and Judy Rush and Henry and Kathy Huntington (in the Narthex).

REGISTER FOR CONFIRMATION CLASS!

REGISTER FOR CONFIRMATION CLASS!

REGISTER HERE

Confirmation class begins in September (dates TBD). Confirmation is designed for students in grades 6-8. If you have a student in high school desiring to participate in Confirmation, please e-mail Pastor Sean.

Confirmation is a three-year program equipping young teenagers to engage more fully in their faith and say "yes" to God's good work in them. Students will study scripture and reflect with the pastor, youth leaders, and other adults in the congregation, learn about the Lutheran perspective on Christian faith, engage in service projects, and learn more about worship practices.

At the end of the three years, students have the opportunity to affirm their baptism before the congregation  and then we throw a party to celebrate God's work of love and grace in their lives!
