Jump for Joy Kid's Clothes Closet is an on-going community ministry of Joy Lutheran Church to support families in Eagle River and Chugiak with child clothing needs.
The Kids Clothes Closet is open to EVERYONE in the community the first Sunday of each month from 1-3pm.
If you are in need of emergency clothing for children, please connect with us using the contact us button and we can make arrangements to provide clothes.
We collect food and financial donations for the local food pantry. Joy was one of the original founders of the food pantry and continues to greatly support its work in our community. You can drop off donations in the donation bins located in the narthex, adjacent to the sanctuary.
In 2022, Joy contributed 2,052 pounds of food to the local Food Pantry!
Joy Lutheran has teamed up with the Homestead Elementary School's Student Leadership Council to help them provide consistent, shelf-table, and easy-to-make options each week for almost 100 students who have food insecurities on the weekends. This number could even grow as this program becomes known. At an estimated cost of $5.00 per bag and roughly 35 weeks of service, they are looking at a total estimate cost of $17,500.
Each bag will include: 2 oatmeal packs, 2 packages of ramen, 2 boxes of Macaroni and cheese, 2 granola/protein bars, 2 cups applesauce/fruit cups, and 1 can tuna/chicken.
**PLEASE NOTE.... We are only able to accept the items specified on this list. This allows for appropriate distribution**
Joy Lutheran has designated a spot in the narthex for food donated to this program. You can bring your food in anytime or donate monetary to the tabs below.

We celebrate and affirm our LGBTQIA+ siblings every year at the Underground Pride Festival. We show up with our interfaith partners to remind our neighbors that they are God's beloved and that our congregation is a safe place for them!
2024 information TBD!
Each year, Joy partners with the Food Bank of Alaska, Love, INC. of Eagle River and other local churches to host the Thanksgiving Blessing. Together, we serve a few hundred families in the community. We look forward to collecting one of the needed food items and hosting this event for our community.
