Kelly and I are so excited to introduce Wonders of Worship (WOW)– a new program for kids and grown-ups during worship this year. This program will lead us to discover how God’s Word, our worship, and God’s world all fit together. We’ll learn together using music and art!
You'll notice a new poster in the sanctuary called the Tree of Life. It was created by artist Vonda Drees specifically for this project (see the end for more information). All of the images you see within the Tree of Life have a meaning and are related to our worship. Come take a look at the poster and ponder!
During the children’s message each week, kids will receive: a special WOW trading card (there are 40 to collect!) and a coloring sheet related to the Tree of Life poster. You'll also see the images on the trading card as the bulletin cover so adults can follow along.
Are your kids nervous about coming up front for the kid’s message? Come up with them! The young and young at heart are welcome to come up front.
WOW is designed to help us learn about worship and enrich our whole congregation. We’re excited to start this Sunday, September 28th!
The Wonders of Worship is a project of Nourishing Vocation with Children at the Lutheran Center at St. Olaf College funded by the Lilly Endowment. Joy Lutheran is one of 20 congregations piloting this program across the ELCA. Artist Vonda Drees designed the tree of life specifically for this project.
